M&M Pump & Supply, Inc.

Based in Flora, Illinois, M&M Pump & Supply, Inc. distributes and sells a wide range of products including pipe, pumping units, pump jacks, oil storage tanks, valves, hoses and sucker rods, primarily to oil and gas producers and industrial customers located in the Illinois Basin.  The company also offers oil and gas producers hydrostatic pipe and tank testing services and subsequently expanded into other services including:  pipe and tank cleaning, pipe insulation, flow line hook-up, tank rentals and delivery, and repairing and refurbishing pump units and other metal components.


Central Can Company

Central Can is one of the nation’s leading producers of high-quality, general line metal containers, including steel pails, paint cans and food cans that are used in a variety of specialized applications. In addition, the company provides custom metal decorating and cutting services to its pail and can customers. By manufacturing high quality, specialized containers and providing extensive customer service, the company has positioned itself as a premium producer.

The company’s principal products include a wide variety of steel pails, tinplate cans, and hybrid & all plastic cans. Many of these products are produced to performance specifications as specified by United Nations (“UN”) standards. As such, they have the required markings and certifications related to those certain specifications. The company's products are used by a wide variety of customers who fill the containers with expensive and/or hazardous products such as flavors and fragrances, food ingredients, solvents, adhesives, coatings, vegetable oil, grill shortenings and other chemicals. The company’s products are typically coated on the inside to the customer’s specification based on intended use of the container. The exteriors of the containers are either decorated or non-decorated per the customer’s specification.

Central Can markets its products to a diversified customer base including numerous Fortune 500 companies and other multinational corporations. The company’s steel pails are sold to major chemical companies and its cans are principally sold to major paint and coating producers. The company markets its products primarily in North America with broad distribution throughout the U.S. Its products are sold principally through a direct sales force and selectively through distributors.


Country Pure Foods, Inc.

Country Pure Foods, Inc. is one of the largest independent juice packing companies in the U.S., serving the foodservice, retail and co-pack industries.  The company’s main foodservice products are single serve portion control juices used primarily in the healthcare and school markets.  Retail products consist mainly of chilled private label juice for supermarkets and also include a branded nectar line. The company markets its expertise and capabilities in packaging to a variety of companies and institutions, including nationally recognized juice manufacturers such as Tropicana/Dole, Welch’s, and Florida Natural.   


Crysteel Manufacturing, Inc.

Crysteel Manufacturing, Inc. manufactures dump and platform bodies and hoists for the construction, landscaping, agricultural, military, public sector highway departments and short haul trucking markets. 

Exit:  The Company was sold to a strategic buyer sponsored by a large private equity fund on December 23, 2005.


FCL Graphics, Inc.

FCL a commercial printer based in Harwood Heights, Illinois, is one of the nation’s largest direct marketing printers, producing such items as direct mailings, brochures, annual reports, posters, catalogs, sell sheets, newspaper inserts, and labels.  Founded in 1973, the company employs state of the art technology and the latest equipment to offer both web and sheet-fed printing services.  FCL enjoys a reputation for highly competitive pricing, as well as excellent service and quality.      


Primary Packaging, Inc.

PPI is an extruder, printer, and converter of heavy-duty polyethylene bags and over-wraps.  It sells its products to three sectors: manufacturers of insulation (e.g., fiberglass, cellulose, and rock wool); lawn and garden (e.g., mulch, soil, and decorative stone and sand); and industrial (e.g., asphalt patch, fertilizer, wood pellets, and specialty resins).   


PrimeCo Wireless Communications, Inc.

DN Partners partnered with a minority sponsor, Greenleaf Ridge LLC who organized a minority investment group PrimeCo Venture Partners-Greenleaf LLC which invested in PrimeCo Wireless Communications, Inc. (“PrimeCo”), a wireless services provider in the Midwest, providing personal communications services in the Chicago metropolitan area.

Exit:  The company met financial expectations and was sold approximately six months after the acquisition.  PrimeCo was sold to a larger competitor (US Cellular) in May 2002 and the transaction closed in August 2002 achieving its investment goal of a strategic sale in nine months.
